A Taste of Burger King
time. In 2025, the company held a national competition to see who could build the best whopper. Video submissions were submitted of a manager watching an employee make their perfect whopper. The video submissions were based on speed, accuracy, and weight. There were 2 divisions, for 16-20, and 21+. The underage groups competed for their regions, and 6 winners won merch. 21+ competed nationally for a cash prize for finalists in lost Vegas. This burger king had multiple people try out. In the end, they had a winner. An 18 year old girl who competed, Jenna, won the under aged group for all the north eastern states. She was gifted with Meta ai glasses, fuzzy socks, a hat, a water bottle, a bag, and her winning certificates. This was very exciting for this store and shows their greatness for order accuracy. This BK is part of GDK inc. The store is over looked by their director of operations, Mike Mezer. He is in charge if over-looking the burger kings in his districts. When it comes to this BK, store 25800, their store general manager is Misty good. She gets help from her assistant managers David Swope and Alyssa Griffin. Tara Lightener and Dylan Hosler are both shift managers. All managers work as a team to make sure the restaurant runs smoothly. some of their duties might be to make sure employees are working, counting inventory, checking cash drawers, and making crew schedules. When it comes to actually working at BK, its important to look at the crew members and what they do, the equipment used, and the customer experience.
Crew members have a lot of different roles to play while working at BK. Working in the kitchen; a crucial job in preparing a customers food. Dressed in black non slip shoes, jeans, a Burger King branded t-shirt, and hair tied up into her crew hat, Laila Moyer is ready for work. Laila states that "I mainly work in the kitchen. I usually make food, but sometimes I work on fryers". When it comes to making the sandwiches, that position is called boards. The board is a long heated table with shelves for the heating phu trays, and wells for fresh products like mayo, lettuce, and tomato. The double sided table can be accessed on either side of the board. A worker takes a hot toasted bun, and lays it on a specially designed sandwich wrapper on the table. The sandwich is split up into top half and lower halves. The employee builds the lower half with the sandwich meat. They also can use cheese, bacon, sauces, pickles and onions on the bottom part. When it comes to the burgers, the bottom bun, patty, and any cheese and bacon is placed assembled, in the hopper to warm it up and melt the cheese. The bottom half, steamy and melty, gets placed back on the wrapper. The top gets toppings too such as smooth creamy mayo spread across the bun, lettuce, or tomato. The halves are put together and the delicious hand crafted sandwich carefully gets wrapped to perfection in its designated wrapper. The sandwich then goes up to the heat shoot at the end of the board for expediting bagged orders. Laila says that the hardest part about making sandwiches is during a rush where there is an abundance of orders to make. She explains that, "we have a screen that shows all the orders. So when it gets busy, it can be overwhelming to look at so many orders a once. It's all a mix of drive through, front counter, take out, kiosk, and mobile orders". So she's grateful that she gets the chance to have help when it gets har
d. If there's no one else on boards already, someone will come back and assist her. Boards crew works hand in hand with production and fryer. A production worker focuses on making the burger patties. The patties go through a flame grilled broiler before being placed in the phu pans that goes up to the warmer. They may also be asked to help grab produce or other small tasks like changing out tongs. The other role, crew working on fryers fryers, dedicate their job to making the yummy fried goods that everyone loves. Bags of frozen product from the freezer get put into specific fryer baskets. the color coded handles on the baskets ensure that the worker knows the proper one to use. When product gets placed in the fryer, a timer button tells the cook when the food is done or when it needs shook. The food cooked to perfection is placed in the heating phu trays. The brightly colored handles are color coded to their specific products to ensure that everything is being cooked properly for the customers. The red handled basket is for fries, blue backet with holders is for fish, yellow basket with holders is for chicken, and blue basket is for everything else. The warmer phu pans are black with two handles to let a crew member to be able to grab it from either side of the warmer. about a week ago, Laila had to deal with a late night bus stop. After a school basketball game, they away team stopped at burger king to get something to eat before heading home. Only 4 employees were present during this time, so it was much more difficult to make
drive through,". Some of these role may include taking front counter orders, drive through orders, cashing customers out, or expediting food. When taking front counter orders, the crew member talks politely face to face with the customer. They help to customize the sandwiches and create the perfect unique order. The register screens used have buttons that show all items and allow them to be customized. When added to the order, they are shown in a list with the prices and total. Customers are then asked if they would like their food for dine in or take out, followed by being cashed out for their total. After receiving the employee carefully counts the money and give back the change, customers are given a receipt with a copy of their order and their order number. This ensure a proper placed order and correct payment. Drive though orders get taken very similarly, except its not face to face. They communicate to the customer through a microphoned head set that transmits to the outdoor speaker. They perform the same delicate actions as the front counter order takers, making sure to be self aware and put the orders in correctly. When the order is done, the drive through employee gives the customer their total and tells them to go to their next window. At that window, another employee is waiting there patiently and cashes out the order. The customer is then offered a burger king crown before going to the last window to receive their hot, freshly made, delicious food. The last crucial role when getting food to the customers is expediting the food, where the expeditor can either bag up food or place it on trays. Expeditors get all the sandwiches, fries, desserts, and sometimes drinks. They make sure all of the orders are ready for the customers to enjoy. The manager Tara, dressed in black work shoes, black slacks, and the black and orange polo, often expedites the orders. Tara noted that, "Expediting is a really important job. You have to bag the order correctly. you don't want to miss any think or give the wrong order out". Ensuring that finished orders are given out correctly is important to the customers experience. Having a good experience make customers want to come again and again. All of these front jobs are crucial to BK, and as a team, employees work together to have the restaurant run smoothly and make the customers happy with their purchase.
Customer experience is greatly prioritized by the employees at Burger king. After parking their car, a customer enters big glass doors into the dining room. As they enter, they are often greeted by one of the employees. Managers put in extra effort to connect with customers and make sure their visit is spectacular. When walking through the dining room, they have the feeling of a good, cozy, homestyle restaurant with the smell of grilling burgers in the air. Families sit eating together at booths and tables. With tan tiled floor and wood walls, customers dine in comfort and style. A display of freshly baked cookies wait for customers at the front counter ready to be ordered. After ordering, a customer has the privilege to listen to bubbly soft pop music or even watch cute short animal videos on the tv. When receiving their food made to perfection, the customer is asked if they need anything extra like sauce or salt and pepper. Guests at Burger King are always treated respectfully and the crew is always sure to tell the customer "you rule". Customer experience at BK is amazing with guest wanting to return again after again for the great quality.
