     Michael Jackson Fandom

    Before writing my research paper about Michael Jacksons fandom, I already knew he had loyal fans. I grew up listening to his music, watching old performances, and even dressing up as him for halloween. But after researching the fandom more deeply, I realized there were a lot of things about the community that surprised me, and it made me appreciate the fandom more.

    One thing that surprised me was how connected Michael Jacksons fans are to each other. I expected people to just enjoy listening, but the fandom goes way beyond just the music. fans debate what there fanbase should be called, share personal stories, create artwork, and even make remixes inspired by his music. Fans from all over the world connect through spaces online. Even though everyone comes from different backgrounds they all come together for one shared love. Its more like a community than a fanbase

    Another thing that I didn't fully realize before researching was how emotionally connected Michael Jacksons fans are to him and his music. A lot of his fans explain that his music has shaped who they are as people. Songs like "Man In the Mirror" inspire fans to think about self improvement, kindness, and making a difference in the world. Some fans have also described his music helping them get through difficult times in their lives. This surprised me because it showed how fandom can be apart of someone's identity instead of just entertainment.

    The last thing that surprised me is how active and global the fandom is today. Even years after his death, fans continue to organize events, conventions, performances, and tribute shows across the world. I found out about events like "Kingvention" in London, where fans meet to celebrate Michael Jacksons life and career together. There are also still impersonators practicing his skills and studying him that have made a career of it. This showed me how strong his influence is, still. Michael Jackson fandom is surviving and continuing to grow and evolve.

    Researching this fandom made me realize that being a Michael Jackson fan Is about much more than liking his music, it's about creativity, connection, identity, and keeping his legacy alive. With loyal fans like this, this fandom will continue to grow and evolve for many years to come.

Hi, my name is Dat Le. I am a freshman at Bloomsburg University, and my current major that I changed to is Biomedical Science with a Pre-med concentration. I live in the city of  Wilkes-Barre which is pretty close to Bloomsburg so I could have commuted, but I chose to dorm and see the real college experience. Every since high school, I've enjoyed playing volleyball during and outside of school so I chose to also play in club volleyball I college. First Tier II tournament win!     Hello, my name is Carter Brown. I'm from Pottsville, PA, around an hour drive away. I am a second year student, and I changed to an EGGS major in the professional geology concentration last semester, formerly a chemistry major.      I enjoy video games and I am part of the Smash & Games club on campus. If you come to Kehr Union room 231 in the late afternoon or evening on Friday, chances are you will see me engaging in some sort of video game at the Smash & Games club. I won a Smash Bros. tournament there last semester, which was when the picture on the right was taken! I also enjoy bowling.
