The Swiftie Fandom

Taylor Swift Unplugged: The Psychology ... Swifties vs. Taylor: What happens when ... The Swiftie fandom continues to evolve every single day with many people deciding to join. One would think there is not much that this fandom does, but in reality, the Swiftie fandom surprisingly does tons of things. Some of the things I discovered about this fandom made me realize how diverse and unique this fandom really is.

One aspect of this fandom that surprised me is that there are different groups dedicated to the Swifties, such as the SoCal Swifties Club and the Hotchkiss Swifties Club. Both of these groups dedicate their lives to Taylor Swift and learning things regarding her and her music. The SoCal Swifties Club is located in Los Angeles, California (1). They host parties in the area for members where they listen to Swift's new music and try to decipher the lyrics and meaning behind the songs (1). The Hotchkiss Swifts Club is a club located on Hotchkiss University in Connecticut (2). Students put this club together in order to share their love for Swift together. They tend to host events to get together and relate to Swift's music as a group (2). There are many other groups and clubs besides these two out there, but they all seem to have the same purpose and it amazes me how many members they have and how close everyone is! It is a perfect opportunity to connect with others and form tight bonds with new people.

Another interesting thing about this fandom is the creativity that fans show and design. Swifties tend to spend a majority of their time crafting outfits, posters, fan art and much more for concerts, or even to just try to gain Swift's attention. Crafting unique outfits for concerts is considered a huge tradition of the Swifties (3). Many outfits have underlying meaning that only Swifties could understand, which makes them special (3). Some of these outfits can take weeks, or even months to plan and craft! If you are artistic and enjoy crafting, this would be the fandom for you to pursue!

Lastly, Swifties love to analyze Swift's social media posts and look for clues, otherwise known as "easter eggs" (4). Being good at analyzing and interpreting seems to be a major activity of Swifties. They even dig deep to find and learn new information regarding Taylor Swift. Finding out bits of information is a major activity that allows Swifties to learn more about their idol. If you are an internet sleuth and love finding things out, this fandom is calling your name!

The Swiftie fandom is always searching for new members to keep their group alive and functioning. They are always welcoming anyone with interest in Taylor Swift and her music and such. Please feel free to consider joining the Swiftie fandom! They would love to have new joining members!
